Karnataka the land of rich heritage, culture, and wildlife known for its greenery, hill station, mesmerizing waterfalls, etc is the favorite place for travelers, poets, artists, and more. Bandipur National Park, Chamarajnagara

Bandipur National Park located in Chamarajnagara district near Mysore established in 1973 as a Tiger reserve was also a part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve. This is a home for many wildlife animals, birds as well as plants. While crossing the highway you can witness the wildlife like deer passing by. This is an ideal place for wildlife photographers and animal lovers. Therefore, do not miss to visit this National park which has so many fauna and flora in it.

Hampi

Hampi is one of the oldest World heritage sites. It is located on the banks of Tungabhadra. The beautiful stone carvings and sculptures are the proof of the artisans of the Vijayanagara Kingdom. The stone Chariot and Vittala temple are the most visited spots. Therefore, you could witness the rich heritage and even listen to the amazing stories of the Vijayanagara Empire. Hindu Puranas and the Ramayana have the mentioned Hampi. Hence, it is declared one of the oldest heritages by UNESCO.

Kodagu

Mangalore and Udupi

Mangalore/Mangaluru in other words is an Arabian seaport and a major commercial center in Karnataka. Mangalore consists of amazing Beaches, Temples, parks, etc.

Mangalore has one of the best beaches in Karnataka. Maravatte Beach is a must-visit spot. The highway is surrounded by a beach on one side and a river on the other. Therefore, creating the best road trip drive. Another tourist attraction is the hand-painted St. Aloysius Chapel is the finest example of artistry and heritage combined followed by the Aloysius Museum.

Mysore

A well-known historical city situated at the foothills of Chamundi Hills. It was the Capital city of the Wadiyar Kingdom, where the Dynasty ruled from 1399 till 1950. Heritage structures and places like Mysore palace, Chamundi temple, Lalitha Mahal, St. Philomena church, etc are famous tourist spots and pride of Karnataka. Similarly, the development of Mysore University, banks, production of Mysore sandal soap, Mysore silks, and more took place in early times. Mysore Dasara is the state festival. The King of Mysuru traditionally presides over the ceremonies and major procession where the goddess will be carried in Gold Chariot on an elephant. Mysore also has other attractive spots like the Zoo water park and Shuka Vana filled with different species of birds.

Mandya

Srivanasamudra falls is a heavenly place in Mandya District situated along the river Kaveri. Shivanasamundra means Shiva’s Sea. The falls have two segments called Gaganachukki and Bhuvachukki. You can get the best view of the falls from the watchtower. Famous temples like Sri Ranganatha Swamy temple which is known for its architecture are located nearby. India’s first Hydroelectric power station was located at the waterfalls and is still running. Initially, KGF was using the power generated here (the actual Kolar Gold Field). You can also visit Srirangapatna and witnesses the tomb and palace of the ruler Tipu Sultan, known as the Tiger of Mysore.

Chikmagalur

Shivamooga

Jog Falls, is the second tallest fall in India, located in Shimoga. The fall is so pure and big, that you cant take your eyes off! There are steps to go up to the viewpoint and enjoy the view of the natural park and falls. This amazing view has been captured in many movies. The density of falls depends upon the rainfall. You can also visit Thirthahalli, where you can find the peaceful house and library of the famous national poet Kuvempu. This is a perfect place for art and literature lovers. Bijapur

Gol Gumbaz is the 2nd largest tomb in the world. It is a famous tourist attraction and pride of Karnataka. Gol Gumbaz means ‘Circular dome’. The tomb of King Mohammed Adil Shah is one of the significant historical monuments of Karnataka. The magnificent Shivagiri, the statue of Lord Shiva is here. Above all, it is the 4th tallest Shiva statue in the world. History and culture are filled in the roots and soil of Bijapur.

Note: The construction of Gol Gumbaz lasted from 1626 till 1656. UNESCO declared this a World Heritage site in 2014.
